A local news website quoted the council as saying,

Ofir was killed when he went out to fight during an extremist attack.  Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant warned after the attack that Hamas had made a serious mistake this morning.

 What is happening in Israel?

On Saturday (October 7) morning, Hamas claimed to have fired 5,000 rockets into Israel.  After this an alert was issued in the entire city.  Hamas fighters have captured Israeli houses.  Meanwhile, Israeli PM Netanyahu has said that we are at war, Hamas will have to pay a heavy price for this.

 Hamas statement

Hamas spokesperson Mohammed Deif, taking responsibility for the attack on Israel, said that Palestinian citizens present in any corner of the world should stand against Israel.  He said, "We have carried out these attacks in response to their attacks on Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem." Along with this, he has called upon Muslims of many countries to unite.

 Reason for the attack?

The reason for the attack is Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.  Al-Aqsa Mosque is in the city of Jerusalem.  In recent times, Jewish people have come here to celebrate their holy festivals.  The Temple Mount is in this compound itself, where Jews pray.  Today is a Jewish festival, so it is believed that Hamas attacked for this reason only.
