Raigarh! Raigarh Police has got another major success in the famous Axis Bank robbery case of Raigarh district. A special team headed by CSP Abhinav Upadhyay left for Bihar and Jharkhand to trace the dacoits of “Sherghati Gang” who had absconded after the incident. A special team, led by CSP Abhinav Upadhyay, conducted a raid in Gaya district of Bihar and arrested one absconding dacoit of the gang – Amit Das alias Dharmendra Das alias Prajapat. He was arrested along with the weapon and brought to Raigarh. The special team formed by SSP Shri Sadanand Kumar under the leadership of CSP Abhinav Upadhyay started collecting all the available information about the accused from Raigarh, due to whose dedication and hard work the Raigarh Police was successful in arresting the said dacoits.
Let it be known that these dacoits of “Sherghati Gang” had carried out the robbery with armed weapons in the main branch of Axis Bank located at Dhimrapur Chowk in Raigarh on the morning of 19th September, in which the dacoits took away Rs 4.19 crore in cash and 78 packets of gold from the bank. The jewelery (weight – 2 kg 91 grams) had fled in different vehicles with a total of Rs 5.62 crore. The state's biggest bank robbery was taken as a challenge by Chhattisgarh Police. Director General of Chhattisgarh Police, Mr. Ashok Juneja immediately contacted the top officials of the neighboring states and provided assistance to the local police and IG Bilaspur Range Mr. Ajay Kumar Yadav and DIG Mr. Ramgopal Garg themselves camped in Raigarh and took command of the case and were present for monitoring. Under whose guidance, Raigarh Police, while coordinating with various districts, has historically made 100% recovery of 05 dacoits of “Sherghati Gang” Bihar - (1) Rakesh Kumar Gupta (2) Upendra Singh (3) Nishant alias Pankaj Kumar Mahato alias Rajesh Das (4), Rahul Kumar Singh (5) Amarjeet Kumar were arrested and the accused were taken on police remand. After this, the special team under the leadership of CSP Abhinav was successful in arresting two other absconding accused (6) Nilesh alias Nitish and accused (7) Pawan alias Prakash along with weapons and the bike used in the incident.

During the marathon interrogation of the 7 accused arrested in the case, the investigation team has extracted complete details of the other 3 absconding accused involved in the crime. SSP Sadanand Kumar is in constant touch with Bihar, Jharkhand Police and their assigned sources and CSP Raigarh Abhinav Upadhyay is in touch with the local informer deployed in connection with the absconding accused during his last raid. Meanwhile, the informer appointed by CSP Abhinav informed about absconding accused Amit Das alias Dharmendra Das alias Prajapat living in his hometown Konchdih by changing his name and coming and going home secretly. The absconding accused Amit Das was living under the name Dharmendra Das. Immediately after getting permission from SSP Sadanand Kumar to leave for other states, CSP Abhinav Upadhyay, under his guidance, formed a team of police station constable Jagmohan Ogre, Sandeep Mishra, cyber cell constable Naveen Shukla, Pushpendra Jatwar and Chasbal constable Sudarshan Pandey, Ajit Kumar. Left for Gaya. CSP Abhinav Upadhyay was told by his police sources that if they get information about the Chhattisgarh Police raid in the accused's home village, then they can make the accused abscond. The village and settlement of the accused was very big and there were many escape routes. Raid action was taken as the accused did not get time to escape and call anyone to the spot. On the spot, the special team seized a country-made pistol and 6 live rounds from the possession of accused Amit Das alias Dharmendra Das and brought the accused safely to Raigarh, who has been arrested for the crime of robbery and sent to remand.
