US President Joe Biden has said that Israel's occupation of Gaza would be a big mistake.
In an interview with CBS's 60 Minutes, Biden was asked whether he would "support Israel's occupation of Gaza at this time?"
In response, the US President said that this would be a "big mistake".
Biden said, “Hamas, and Hamas extremists, do not represent all of the Palestinian people, and I think it would be a mistake for Israel to re-occupy Gaza. ,
In this interview broadcast on Sunday night, he said, "However, going inside Gaza and taking out the extremists is an important task."
He also said he was "confident that Israel will act under the rules of war."
Biden has repeatedly said that it is Israel's right and duty to defend itself from Hamas.
A week earlier he had described the Hamas attack as a "sheer evil act".
Last week, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken also reached Tel Aviv to express his support for Israel.
Israel has instructed 11 lakh people to move from Northern Gaza to Southern Gaza. There are speculations that the Israeli army may enter Gaza.
